re: lin siew ching's reflection

After attending the history field trip and reading the textbook chapter 6,I learnt more about the consequences of World War II,and also about how British defend Singapore against the Japanese.I feel that British is a very brave country. The British underestimated the Japanese. However, the Japnese proved them wrong. They already have good preparation.World War II had influence many innocent people and had brought negative impacts on many countries. One such example is the shortage of food and water and also poor health conditions during the Japanese Occupation in Singapore.

Many feared of the Kempeitai and because of it's harsh punishments.I think Singaporeans must have suffered under the tough circumstances.I think these people are very pitiful as they are innocent.Despite under these tough circumstances, the people of Singapore still did not believe that Singapore would fall under the Japanese attack. This shows that people of Singapore are confident people.

To me,I feel that World War II is a cruel event that has resulted in many people's deaths.I feel that this is a very sorry state. Moreover, lots of problems still occur at the end of the Japanese Occupation(shortage of food ,water and electricity). The people must have felt very unfair towards them.I also feel that the Japanese people were very cruel.

Lastly,I can infer that the lives of the people during the Japanese Occupation was horrible as there are lots of death and poor health conditions, illness like malnutrition.

re: farhani's reflection

i think that the Malay soldiers, were very brave to have faced the Japanese soldiers, despite having countless number of problems and difficulties. For example, even though they did not have enough soldiers, they fought with the Japanese soldiers bravely plus determination till the end. Their courage and bravery were so touching as they sacrificed their lives for the country.

I too think that the Japanese leader, lieutnant-general, Tomoyuki Yamashita, was very smart and fast. He really planned every step he was going to make at that point of time. Thus, the steps he took were right, he managed to get to Singapore in days faster than expected. Whereas the Japanese soldiers, were cruel.

The villagers in Singapore during the Japanese Occupation was terrible. They were treated so badly. Regardless of their gender and age. However, different race The Japanese killed innocent people.

re: jasmine's reflection

what have you learnt from the field trip and project world ?
"ta'at setia" which means "death before dishonor" was the motto of the malay regiment. adran bin saidi, my favourite war hero, was a leader of the malay regiment. he was a clever and courageous individual. under his leadership, many japanese soldiers were killed. the malay regiment and the japanese soldiers have have something in common. they are loyal to their own country and are willing to die for it. i have also learnt that lieutnant-genernal tomoyuki yamashita is a clever, determined, loyal and fair individual. he was clever in tricking lieutnant general percival to surrender singapore to the japanese. when lieutnant genernal yamashita heard that a bunch of japanese soldiers killednabout 200 people in the mount alexandra hospital, he had them executed after "complaining" to the japanese emperor. (is yamashita compassionate?) bukit chandu rocks! when i was watching the cartoon in bukit chandu about the battle for pasir panjang, my heart felt very sad, but no matter how much i forced, not even a single tear could come out. i will rate it 5 stars ! i will watch it a thousand times, i could!!!
